Choices available to you for deferred amounts in your NQDC account. They are hypothetical because you do not directly control them and they are not actually invested in your name. Your deferred amounts remain an asset of your company or a trust. When the time comes for you to receive distributions, the deferred amounts and the investment gains will be paid to you as if the deferred amounts had been invested as you indicated. To avoid causing you immediate taxation on your deferred amounts, your company must have this flexibility in choosing how it invests the money.
