Anti-acceleration rule

A rule under IRC Section 409A stipulating that nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements cannot accelerate the time or amount scheduled to be paid. Violation of the rule imposes penalties on the plan participant. An exception to the rule applies in some circumstances, such as a domestic relations order or the payment of employment taxes.
